Holiday Party Planning 101

  December 14, 2016

It’s that time of the year when your stress level can go from 0-100 in a matter of seconds!

Your boss puts you in charge of this year’s holiday party. You panic, it’s all on you, and you have to deliver because the rest of your future at the company depends on it.

Now breath, we’ve put together some guidelines to make this as simple as pie!

Step 1: KNOW YOUR BUDGET

Ask your boss for the budget of this year’s holiday party.

This will ensure you’ll make everyone happy. You wont second-guess yourself every step of the way and it will help you look like a shinning star when the event meets or is below the price line.

Step 2: CREATE A TEAM

Make sure to get a party planning committee started with other co-workers because everyone wants to feel included. Your committee will have a say on all the holiday planning and they will appreciate you for it. Plus, you’ll have lots of running around to do and having a few extra hands will help you delegate and get everything done on time!

Step 3: SAVE THE DATE

Figure out a great date that works for all the guests. Make sure you stay away from deadlines at work or other holidays that would conflict with your party. It is best to do your office Holiday party toward the end of the week as most employees go out of town on the weekends, and you can get great deals on locations on weekdays as opposed to the weekends!

Step 4: LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION!

Pick a unique venue!

Location is everything. I know you have heard that many times, but if you pick a unique location more guests are eager to attend. For instance, Allure is elegant, state of the art, and centrally located. You want your guests to feel special and enjoy a night out that takes them far away from the confines of the office. Allure brings you the opulence of Vegas, and the Beverly Hills cuisine under one roof.

Step 5: LURE THEM IN!

Invitations should be festive. Remember, you are not inviting co-workers to a business meeting; it’s a party to bond in a different atmosphere. Make sure your invitation is exciting and includes all the pertinent information. Include any parking costs, cash bar or out of pocket expenses your guests will need to know. On your invitation also remind your guests to take UBER or LYFT if they plan to drink.

Step 6:  BREAK THE ICE

Office parties are designed to get your co-workers to mingle and get to know each other.  There are great ideas that can bring everyone together: selfie sticks that get passed around the party capturing every moment and emailing them to your guests, DJ playing great music, karaoke machines, photo booths or a psychic. Make sure you ask Allure to hook you up with all these fun activity options!

Don’t forget to have a great time yourself and make sure to keep a comfortable buzz, without having to be carried to the car! You have to face your boss and all your colleagues the next day.
